CARE is launching a bold policy agenda – with new solutions that bring new hope to the fight against global poverty. People living in the world's poorest communities face tough challenges: Lack of access to quality education, basic health care and economic opportunity; denial of a voice in decisions that affect their lives; rising food prices; the effects of climate change; and armed conflicts. At the same time, the international community has committed to reducing poverty and hunger – and people around the world express a growing desire for a more just and secure future for all.
We believe the time is right to make real progress – with a new poverty-fighting strategy that draws on our 60 years of experience working in the world's poorest communities. CARE's results-driven strategy focuses on the most critical issues affecting the world's poor. The policies we recommend will help people in poor communities become self-sufficient and lead healthy, productive lives. Reducing poverty, hunger, violence and disease will prevent crises that lead to instability, reduce public health threats and enhance security for all.
