Situation: The crisis in Darfur has displaced almost 1.8 million people, while another 200,000 have fled to neighboring Chad. CARE and partner organizations have helped bring the malnutrition rate down, but a recent spike in violent attacks could easily turn that around again.
Our Response: CARE has more than 700 staff on the ground in Darfur and Chad. We're distributing emergency food to more than 400,000 people each month, and providing water and sanitation for 216,000 people. In addition, thousands are receiving life-saving health care at our mobile clinics and nutritional therapy center in Nyala. Thanks to friends like you for helping families survive this crisis.
