ATLANTA (October 21, 2008) - The international humanitarian agency CARE USA, headquartered in Atlanta, has named Linda DiSantis as general counsel. In this role, she will oversee CARE's legal affairs in more than 40 countries around the world. Ms. DiSantis, who will start at CARE on November 3, brings significant experience as an attorney focusing on environment, compliance, ethics and management. In 2002, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin selected Ms. DiSantis as city attorney, where she oversaw a law department with a staff of over 80 and dealt with all the civil matters for the city. Most recently, Linda has been executive-in-residence at The Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility at Georgia State University (GSU). Ms. DiSantis began her career as a nurse studying in Chicago hospitals and then studied law at GSU. After working in a top-tier international law firm, Linda joined UPS, where she eventually became a vice president of the corporate legal department. She also founded and served as CEO of a business ethics and compliance consulting services firm providing innovative business ethics solutions to organizations. "We enthusiastically welcome Ms. DiSantis to CARE. Her expertise in law and management is matched by a deep interest in the well-being of people around the world," said Joe Iarocci, chief of staff for CARE and its former general counsel.
