Robert "Bob" MacPherson

CARE USA EMERGENCY GROUP
Bob Macpherson coordinates CARE's land mine awareness and demining programs worldwide. . Since 1994, Macpherson has helped CARE develop demining and mine awareness projects in Angola, Cambodia, Somalia and Kosovo. CARE is the only U.S.-based NGO consistently involved in mine action, which includes both mine awareness and demining. Through a recent grant from the U.N. Foundation, CARE is conducting land mine safety training with the use of its Land Mine Safety Handbook for U.N. and NGO staff worldwide. While serving in the U.S. Marines, Macpherson was wounded in Vietnam and subsequently received the Presidential Legion of Merit and four commendations for valor. After retiring from the Marines, Macpherson founded Enable, a humanitarian relief organization dedicated to assisting the survivors of land mines and war. Macpherson, who joined CARE's Emergency Group as assistant director in 1998, also specializes in emergency training and operation start-up and management.
